He is trying to become her spiritual head since you are an unbeliever . NIP it in the bud now !! Because the next step will be him taking interest in your child ,grooming her/him for the ministry ect. You do not want this man weaseling himself into your family . Level with your wife that you do not like this interference into your family life . It IS inappropriate for this Elder to be texting your wife ! If he needs to 'shepherd' her spiritually it needs to be done at the hall in the presence of others.

What would happen ??
by Clambake inthere is a certain elder in my wives hall that has seemed to developed a real interest her.
first he seemed to feel a need to make sure all her blood cards were signed before she gave birth to our child.. he sends her text messages if she misses a meeting saying how much " we missed you last night ".
he finally sent her a text wondering where her oct hours were , knowing she had some pretty serious tears from child birth and could hardly even walk, much less do field service ".

ssn587 ,WOW an Elder that finally gave good counsel ! He must have had kids too.
Clambake , we came from a Hall that in our younger days was full of new parents and young couples . Sisters almost made a contest of who could come back to the hall earliest from having a baby ....it was so stupid !
One thing I saw while being a JW was that they use having a new baby as a way to guilt inactive ones back into service . The thinking is now you have this new person to be responsible for ,and of course the fear of the dreaded END should be enforced upon your mind . Don't let them pressure your family .
Enjoy the new bundle of joy ,get your rest and take care .Congratulations !

Did an EX-JW wake you up to TTATT or did you put the effort to wake up yourself?
by John Aquila inhow many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

I woke up on my own too. When something effects you personally ,that is when you seriously question things.
Over the course of two years many things about the organization began to bother me . I saw clearly hypocrisy within the congregation on how people were treated . They said they had brotherly love ,but I saw it was very conditional .The Elders could not apply the simple principle of being a Good Samaritan. I was sickened by how much emphasis was given to following the GB instead of God or Jesus. I began sitting back and really looking at people in the Hall ....they were sad, haggard ,and worn down . I kept wondering why so many were on anti-depressants .
Then one day I was watching the Dr Phil show ,and he had two girls on there named Fawn .Both had escaped a cult out west . They spoke about how afraid they were to leave ,because they would be destroyed at Armageddon ,and their family and friends would shun them .All they wanted was freedom to make their own decisions instead of having to follow the group think of the cult .I kept saying to the television 'That's how I feel !" I can't remember all the advice Dr Phil gave them ,but I do remember him speaking about Stephen Hasson and how cults keep you suppressed ,and in fear . He spoke to anyone watching the show that we don't need to be in fear like that .....and that is not how God would want us to worship him . This made me feel so bold and courageous that I made my first attempt to come on this forum and read ! I thought I was weak and all alone in my doubts of the society ,then all of the sudden here were hundreds maybe thousands of others feeling and saying exactly what I was thinking !

The Witnesses Are Really Trying Hard To Get Me Back In
by minimus inat my mom's bed side all i see is either jw family or friends making a concerted effort to have me return to their fold.
evidentlyy, my mom has encouraged this and i'm a trapped prisoner, as they do their best to have me come back.
it's bad enough that i have to endure my mom's dying, now i have to be bombarded with this bs..

Remember when you could wear casual clothes to the congregation book study?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini would get home from work, eat dinner, shower and put on jeans,a shirt and gym shoes to the book study.
then, one day a letter was read where men would need to wear a suit and tie and the woman would have to wear dresses.
it was stated in a letter that the change was due to, '' giving a better witness to anyone who would watch us walking into our local congregation or a neighbor's house.''.

We had a small neighborhood grocery store across the street from the KH when I was little 60's-70's. During the break between the Public talk and Watchtower we raced across the street to buy gum and candy . Of course we were constantly told not to do it ... They got rid of the break because so many saw this as the opportune time to LEAVE ,and go home . -

I attended meetings from the1960's until 2006 ...we never got to wear casual clothes, ever . I tried getting away with denim skirts and coulots on book study nights several times . Some areas must have gotten away with it though because I remember letters being read about the dress code . We had two 70 yr old women that always wore pantsuits back in the 80's they gave the Elders a lot of grief ! :) Loved those ladies ....sadly the Elders broke them down . -

What I said to an Elder and the matter was dropped.
by Simon Templar ini decided to tell this small story.. about 25 years ago, we lived in a certain area in the usa and associated with the local congregation there.
coincidently, one of the elders was the assistant congregation servant in a different kh and congregation which i grew up in.
therefore, we knew one another well.

This type of thing happened to my son when he was a teenager .
The Elder accused him of something he did not do ,because he was with two other boys that got caught smoking . He was with them ,but did not participate . The Elder was just so sure of himself he would not believe anything my son said. He even said someone had come forward and witnessed the event .My son still maintained it did not happen.I asked the Elder to bring forth the eye witness......that is when we learned the Elder was lying . He figured that if he put enough pressure on my son, that he would admit to wrong doing . This event forever changed my son's ,and our opinion of this Elder .
